At Gigamon, our purpose is to protect the hybrid networks and data of the largest, most complex organizations on the planet. Certified as a Great Place to Work, we offer a deep observability pipeline that efficiently delivers network-derived intelligence to cloud, security, and observability tools. This helps our customers to eliminate security blind spots, optimize network traffic, and dramatically reduce tool cost and complexity, enabling them to better secure and manage their hybrid cloud infrastructure. Gigamon has served more than 4,000 customers worldwide, including over 80 percent of Fortune 100 enterprises, 9 of the 10 largest mobile network providers, and hundreds of governments and educational organizations.
As a Principal Engineer at Gigamon in Mexico, you will help design, build, and scale the platforms and products that power deep observability for the world’s most demanding networks. You will work as part of a highly collaborative, cross‑functional engineering team focused on delivering robust, secure, and performant solutions. In this role, you will own complex technical problems end to end, from design through implementation and deployment, while driving best practices across the codebase. Your work will directly influence product quality, customer outcomes, and the evolution of Gigamon’s technology stack.
What you’ll do:
-
Design, implement, and maintain high‑quality, production‑grade software components and services for Gigamon’s observability and networking products.
-
Lead end‑to‑end delivery of complex features, including requirements clarification, architecture and design, coding, testing, documentation, and deployment.
-
Participate in and often drive technical design reviews, code reviews, and architecture discussions to ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
-
Collaborate closely with product management, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams to translate customer and business needs into technical solutions.
-
Improve system reliability, performance, and scalability through profiling, optimization, and thoughtful design of distributed systems and data flows.
-
Champion engineering best practices, including clean code, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and secure development lifecycle practices.
-
Mentor and guide other engineers, providing technical leadership, feedback, and support to help raise the overall technical bar of the team.
-
Contribute to planning and estimation, proactively identifying technical risks, trade‑offs, and dependencies, and proposing pragmatic solutions.
What you’ve done:
-
Built and shipped complex software systems in a production environment, ideally in networking, security, cloud infrastructure, or related domains.
-
Demonstrated strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language commonly used in systems or backend development (for example, C/C++, Java, Go, or similar).
-
Worked with distributed systems, high‑throughput data pipelines, or large‑scale backend services, with a solid understanding of performance, reliability, and resiliency considerations.
-
Applied strong knowledge of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, operating systems concepts, and network or protocol basics.
-
Utilized modern development tools and practices such as Git, code review workflows, unit and integration testing, CI/CD pipelines, and observability/monitoring tools.
-
Collaborated effectively in cross‑functional teams, partnering with product, QA, and operations to deliver high‑quality releases on schedule.
-
Taken ownership of significant technical areas or components, including production support, troubleshooting, and ongoing improvements.
-
Communicated technical concepts clearly in English, both in writing and verbally, to stakeholders across locations and time zones.
Who you are:
-
You are a principal‑level engineer (+10 years’ experience) who enjoys taking ownership of complex problems and seeing them through to high‑quality solutions.
-
You think systematically and pragmatically, balancing long‑term architecture with short‑term delivery needs.
-
You are collaborative and inclusive, comfortable working with distributed teams and sharing knowledge openly.
-
You are curious and adaptable, eager to learn new technologies and approaches in networking, security, and cloud‑native environments.
-
You hold a high bar for code quality, reliability, and security, and you advocate for best practices across the team.
