Job Description
Nidec Aerospace is seeking a qualified Quality Engineer responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of aerospace electric motors throughout their lifecycle, from development through production. This role will support new product introduction, manufacturing line launches, supplier quality activities, process validation, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with aerospace quality standards and customer requirements.
The successful candidate will work closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and suppliers to drive product quality, resolve complex manufacturing and supplier issues, and implement robust quality systems and controls that ensure safe, reliable, and compliant products.
The individual is responsible for:

Lead quality activities for new product introduction (NPI), APQP, production launches, and manufacturing process transfers, including development and maintenance of Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, FAIRs, Control Plans & Inspection Plans.

Provide daily quality support to manufacturing operations, driving containment actions, root cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure product conformity and process effectiveness.

Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, GD&T requirements, and inspection criteria to ensure appropriate quality controls, measurement methods, and product conformity throughout manufacturing processes.

Participate in manufacturing readiness reviews, process validations, equipment qualifications, and quality system audits to ensure robust and compliant manufacturing processes.

Develop procedures for incoming inspection process as well as inspection methods, process inspection and final inspection activities

Quality Issue Resolution: Serve as the primary contact for supplier quality issues, drive root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions using tools like 8D and Six Sigma methodology.

Define properly traceability records for process and product for all life cycle products.

Create and define final inspection activities with DPRV (delegate product verification) before ship articles.

Assist product managers in supplier business reviews.

Performance Monitoring: Define, track and monitor supplier KPIs to evaluate performance and initiate improvement plans.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with purchasing, engineering, and production teams to align quality requirements and drive supplier improvements.

Compliance & Standards: Ensure products and process meet applicable standards such as AS9100, customer and internal specifications.

Monitor and verify effectiveness of supplier’s quality improvements.

Follow up closely First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 with suppliers

Assist suppliers to maintain 100% PPAP compliance for all pre-preproduction builds and production builds.
Technical Attributes and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: +5 years in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment Preferred in Aerospace industry.

Understanding manufacturing processes, mechanical system and assembly operations.

Proficiency in English. Visa and Passport required.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and GD&T requirements, and verify compliance using metrology equipment such as CMMs, calipers, micrometers, and optical measurement systems.

Experience with APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, First Article Inspection (FAI), PPAP, SPC, and MSA methodologies.
PREFERRED:

Knowledge of aerospace quality systems and standards, including AS9100, AS9102, AS9145, customer-specific requirements, and Quality Management System (QMS) principles.

Japanese communication skills are highly preferred. Preferred Japanese level: N3 or above.
