Job Overview
Operate and manage the Monterrey Test Laboratory for Engineering and production testing of ACME Transformers and Powerohm Resistors.
A Day In The Life
Working coordinator for the Power Quality Solutions (PQS) lab facility. Management responsibilities include personnel management, scheduling, training and development. Must be able to push continuous improvement in the laboratory, improving operations, encouraging teamwork, identifying areas for improvement and completing change.
Act as Laboratory Quality coordinator and maintain laboratory accreditation to ISO 17025 and maintain UL CDTP. The laboratory quality management system includes maintaining equipment maintenance / calibration records, test method validation, and performing internal audits.
Review incoming test requests and interpret technical industry standards for test requirements and test methods. Schedule test requests with laboratory staff and review completed test reports for accuracy, consistency with test plans and approve reports for release.
Assist technicians in performing product testing including setup, planning and reporting.
Plan for equipment maintenance, upgrades and replacement for existing lab equipment. Define, initiate and manage capital equipment and automation projects.
Recommend new test methods and test equipment to support required testing.
Ensure lab meets required Hubbell and industry safety requirements.
Ensure lab establishes and maintains 5S standards.
What will help you thrive in this role?
Required:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline required.
Minimum 5 years experience in test laboratory operations.
Previous experience in product testing, electrical research, quality control, standards engineering and/or reliability engineering roles.
Previous experience in testing of high power devices up to 500 kW, 480 Volts, and 600 Amps
Previous experience with management of laboratory capital projects including lab design and purchase and installation of equipment.
Knowledge and experience with UL, CSA, NEMA, IEEE standards for electrical equipment.
Must be a self starter with strong drive, initiative, and ability to work with limited management input.
Fluent in English (written and spoken)
