In this role, the Requisition Engineer is responsible for the delivery of technical documentation and the coordination of the engineering function throughout a project from receipt of order to remittance. To succeed, the requisition engineer must interact actively with other teams such as Design Engineering, Sales, Project Management, Field Services and Supply chain.
The requisition engineer is part of a global Gas Plant Services Engineering team caring for timely preparation of technical competitive proposals and providing accurate and timely overall technical project management of generator orders which meet GE design and experience. These projects are applied to GE’s own installed base fleet as well as other OEM fleet technologies.
Activities
- Responsible for successful execution of the engineering and related downstream activities for the overall CM&U order/project. Examples of CMU Projects include Stator Rewinds, Replacement Fields, Field Rewinds, Exchange Rotors, and full Generator Replacements.
- Create and coordinate the overall engineering and drafting deliverable schedule using Enovia PLM software. Manage changes over the lifecycle of the project to ensure timely delivery to support parts delivery, outage activities, or other downstream work.
- Provide appropriate solutions to developing technical issues arising during generator CM&U project.
- Write Field Service Instructions (FSI) or Field Modification Instruction (FMI) documentation
- Integrate with Project Management, Engineering, Manufacturing and Sourcing, Vendors, Service Shops and other teams as necessary to ensure a successful project.
- Support other team members both domestically and globally.
- Provide timely and accurate responses to technical inquiries using technical files (such as Design Data, Previous Reports, etc.), personal experience/knowledge and information from other technical experts as necessary.
- Complete project closeout activities including gathering feedback and data to support continuous improvement.
- Lead process improvement projects when assigned. Engage in continuing education/training using resources provided.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
- 6 years of experience or advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Customer Project Engineering space
- At least 2 years experience in either heavy duty gas turbine/steam turbine generator technology or equivalent.
