Location: General Escobedo, Nuevo León, Mexico (Parque Industrial Diamante Escobedo)

Summary

Core Molding Technologies is seeking a Metrology Technician to support product quality by ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and traceability of measurement systems across our manufacturing operations.

This role is responsible for dimensional inspections, calibration management, measurement system analysis (MSA), and supporting APQP, PPAP, engineering validations, and production. The Metrology Technician partners closely with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure products meet customer specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Perform dimensional inspections using conventional precision measuring equipment and FARO measurement systems
Operate and program FARO measuring arm equipment for dimensional validation and geometric analysis
Maintain the plant calibration program, including scheduling, tracking, and documentation
Coordinate internal and external equipment calibrations with accredited laboratories
Verify calibration status and maintain traceability of all measurement equipment
Perform intermediate verification of measuring equipment in accordance with internal procedures
Generate dimensional reports and maintain inspection documentation
Support APQP, PPAP, First Article Inspection (FAI), engineering changes, and process validations
Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, customer specifications, and inspection requirements
Execute MSA studies, including Gage R&R, as required
Support production, engineering, and quality teams with special inspections and dimensional investigations
Participate in root cause investigations involving dimensional or measurement issues
Maintain laboratory organization and environmental controls where applicable
Support internal, customer, and third-party audits
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and internal quality procedures

Qualifications

Technical degree in Metrology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Electromechanics, or related field preferred
2+ years of experience in metrology, calibration, or dimensional inspection within a manufacturing environment
Experience operating FARO measuring arm or similar portable CMM systems
Experience managing calibration programs and measurement equipment
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
Experience supporting APQP, PPAP, FAI, and manufacturing validation activities
Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements; IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 experience preferred
Familiarity with MSA, SPC, GD&T, Core Tools, and statistical analysis
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Minitab preferred
Intermediate English (technical reading and documentation) preferred

Preferred

Experience in automotive or plastics manufacturing
Experience with CMM programming or additional advanced metrology equipment
Knowledge of SPC, Cp/Cpk, DOE, and statistical analysis tools
