We are seeking a Senior Exploration Full-Stack Engineer to lead feature delivery, technical hardening, and architectural improvements across the explorer platform and live events product within the Exploration Pod.
In this role, you will drive API security strategy, own dependency vulnerability remediation at scale, and shape feature delivery across two products that share a common Next.js + NestJS + CMS architecture. The ideal candidate is a seasoned TypeScript engineer who can context-switch seamlessly between products, mentor peers, and treat security and reliability as first-class engineering concerns alongside feature delivery.
Responsibilities
-
Lead feature delivery and complex bug resolution across the explorer platform and live events product
-
Architect, maintain, and extend NestJS API services, including data access layers and external service integrations
-
Drive CMS schema design decisions and own content model evolution shared across both products
-
Design and implement rate limiting strategy on the live events API to mitigate identified DDoS risk
-
Define and roll out HMAC authentication patterns to harden webhook endpoints across both products
-
Own the triage and remediation strategy for the 1000+ dependency vulnerabilities identified in the live events product
-
Establish dead-letter queue and retry patterns as standards for Lambda workers and async processors
-
Set testing standards and mentor others on unit, integration, and E2E test practices to meet and raise coverage gate targets
-
Lead code reviews, define engineering standards, and champion best practices within the pod
-
Partner with the Integration Engineer to design fan-out write patterns and improve Kafka consumer reliability
-
Collaborate with the Business Analyst to shape and refine stories, providing technical input during discovery and sprint planning
-
Mentor mid-level engineers and contribute to their technical growth
Requirements
-
3+ years of professional software engineering experience
-
Advanced proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS
-
Strong command of Next.js (App Router + Pages Router), including performance optimization and advanced rendering patterns
-
Deep hands-on experience with AWS services, including ECS, Lambda, and SQS, with the ability to make architectural trade-off decisions
-
Advanced expertise in Confluent Kafka, PostgreSQL, and Terraform, including production-scale operations and tuning
-
Solid working experience with Sanity Studio v5, Algolia, and Cloudinary in production environments
-
Strong understanding of API security practices, including rate limiting, HMAC authentication, and threat modeling
-
Proven experience designing and implementing async processing patterns such as dead-letter queues, retry mechanisms, and idempotency guarantees
-
Demonstrated ability to define testing strategy and write high-quality unit, integration, and E2E tests that raise coverage and reliability targets
-
Proven track record of leveraging AI coding assistants for feature development, security fix implementation, and dependency vulnerability triage at scale
-
Ability to design AI-driven workflows for large-scale dependency remediation — automated upgrade scripts, breaking change analysis, and regression identification
-
Experience championing AI-assisted code review — integrating LLM-based tools into team workflows to catch security and quality issues before human review
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (B2+ level)
