The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership in the development, standardization, and implementation of manufacturing processes across global manufacturing operations. This role supports product launches, capacity growth, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives by designing, specifying, and introducing robust, safe, and cost-effective manufacturing equipment and processes.
The position works closely with Manufacturing, Design Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, IT, Sourcing, Lean, and global operations teams to ensure products are designed for manufacturability, quality, efficiency, and scalability. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer also supports the product development cycle by providing input on part design, tooling, labor impact, equipment requirements, and process limitations to improve quality, reduce cost, and increase value for the customer.

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.

5+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in assembly manufacturing environments.

Strong experience implementing manufacturing equipment, tooling, workstations, and production systems.

Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods, process development, and production standards.

Experience supporting new product launches, pre-production activities, and production ramp-up.

Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing documentation.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and cross-functional activities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

7+ years of manufacturing experience.

Automotive assembly experience, preferably with an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.

Experience with assembly automation, DC torque tools, In-Process Test (IPT), and End-of-Line Test (EOLT) systems.

Experience with APQP processes, including PFMEA and Control Plans.

Knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Lean Manufacturing principles.

Experience with error-proofing (poka-yoke), standardized work, line balancing, and continuous flow methodologies.

Proficiency with CAD software.

Solid technical knowledge of CNC machining centers and machining processes.

Experience troubleshooting manufacturing and machining-related issues.

Understanding of dimensional tolerances and quality requirements.

Experience developing capital equipment studies, business cases, and capital expenditure recommendations.

Experience working with global manufacturing teams or supporting multi-site manufacturing operations.
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer leads the development and implementation of manufacturing technologies and processes to support new product introductions, production improvements, and global manufacturing strategy. This role is responsible for developing and standardizing manufacturing processes, workstation layouts, equipment specifications, and technical documentation while promoting best practices across manufacturing facilities.
Key responsibilities include supporting product development schedules, participating in design reviews, evaluating preliminary product designs, and providing manufacturing input related to part reduction, commonality, ease of assembly, tooling requirements, labor impact, cost, and quality. The position partners with Design Engineering and Quality Engineering to identify process limitations, recommend design improvements, and ensure new and existing components are optimized for manufacturability.
The role coordinates the procurement, build, run-off, installation, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment and production systems. Responsibilities also include researching emerging manufacturing technologies, supporting capital equipment studies, preparing business cases, and assisting with long-range capital planning aligned with corporate objectives.
Additionally, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer analyzes manufacturing methods and operational standards to identify opportunities that improve safety, quality, ergonomics, throughput, reliability, and cost. The role develops and maintains process documentation, equipment guidelines, work instructions, and production standards, while supporting labor studies, workstation optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The position also provides support for current production operations by identifying recurring manufacturing issues, incorporating lessons learned into future designs, and driving sustainable solutions through collaboration with cross-functional teams. This role requires strong technical expertise, hands-on problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to influence stakeholders while driving operational excellence throughout the organization.
