We are searching for a Lead .NET Engineer to take ownership of the backend migration of a mature Windows desktop application for FDIC Call Report preparation into a cloud-native, containerized architecture running on Kubernetes. This is a greenfield-on-legacy engagement: breaking down a monolithic .NET Framework 4.8 / VB.NET codebase into five independently deployable ASP.NET Core services, all while preserving every regulatory workflow FDIC-supervised banks rely on at filing time.
Responsibilities
-
Steer the backend migration initiative from a legacy monolithic desktop application toward a cloud-native, containerized architecture
-
Guide the breakdown of the existing codebase into independently deployable backend services
-
Shape architectural decisions and set the technical direction across the migration workstreams
-
Support and mentor a small group of engineers, keeping the team aligned on standards, patterns, and delivery targets
-
Work with stakeholders to convert regulatory workflow requirements into scalable technical solutions
-
Craft and build backend services that address multi-tenant scenarios with strict data isolation
-
Actively engage in code reviews and uphold high standards of code quality and maintainability
-
Spot and mitigate technical risks throughout the migration lifecycle
-
Orchestrate deployment activities and ensure services run dependably in containerised environments
-
Drive continuous improvement of engineering practices, tools, and delivery workflows
Requirements
-
No less than 5 years of applied professional experience in backend .NET engineering, with proven experience guiding a team of 2 to 4 engineers
-
Hands-on background with legacy migration initiatives that move applications onto a new technology stack
-
Track record of designing and delivering multi-tenant SaaS backends with per-tenant data isolation
-
Practical delivery of microservices operating on Kubernetes
-
Senior-level command of C# and ASP.NET Core (Current)
-
Applied experience with Entity Framework Core, covering global query filters, optimistic concurrency, and migration management
-
Working expertise in PostgreSQL including schema design, Row-Level Security, and multi-tenant patterns
-
Hands-on experience with OAuth 2.0 and OIDC server-side flows through Microsoft.Identity.Web, together with JWT issuance and validation
-
Applied background with Docker and Kubernetes, including ownership of service manifests rather than simply consuming them
-
Practical use of xUnit and Testcontainers to author integration tests against real databases
-
Strong VB.NET reading comprehension, with the ability to fluently follow and reason about legacy VB.NET code without needing to write new VB.NET
-
Confident English communication at B2 level or higher, in both writing and speech
Nice to have
-
Background configuring Auth0 or comparable SAML/OIDC brokers for identity and access management
-
Awareness of AI Assistants for boosting development activities and productivity
-
Working familiarity with Azure Pipelines for CI/CD automation
-
Understanding of Google Cloud Platform for cloud infrastructure and service operations
-
Practical exposure to Helm for handling Kubernetes application deployments
-
Hands-on experience designing and building REST APIs
-
Familiarity with SAML for federated authentication scenarios

Awareness of XBRL for structured business reporting use cases
