Manufacturing Engineer
Job Objective:
The Manufacturing Engineer (BOM & Assembly) is responsible for owning the Bill of Materials (BOM) and ensuring the correct, on-time assembly of robotic systems within the Mechatronics department.
This role bridges design engineering and production by maintaining accurate and up-to-date BOMs, coordinating component procurement, and overseeing assembly workflows to ensure quality, compliance, and delivery timelines are met.
The position requires strong organizational skills, hands-on technical knowledge of electromechanical systems, and close collaboration with design, supply chain, and quality teams.
Responsibilities:
- Own and maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM) for all robotic assemblies, ensuring accuracy, version control, and alignment with engineering design changes.
- Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure components are sourced and available in line with assembly schedules.
- Plan, schedule, and oversee the assembly of robotic systems, ensuring correct build sequences, torque specifications, and quality standards are followed.
- Identify and resolve BOM discrepancies, component shortages, and assembly issues in a timely manner to avoid production delays.
- Collaborate with the Mechatronics Engineering team to incorporate design changes into the BOM and update assembly documentation accordingly.
- Create and maintain assembly work instructions, build records, and quality checklists for each robot configuration.
- Track assembly progress against project timelines and escalate risks or blockers to department leadership.
- Participate in design reviews and manufacturing readiness assessments to ensure producibility of new designs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- +2 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, production coordination, or assembly operations within a robotics, automation, or electromechanical environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing BOMs using PLM/ERP systems (e.g., Arena, SAP, Odoo, or similar).
- Familiarity with electromechanical assembly processes, including wiring harnesses, actuators, and sensor integration.
- Experience with assembly documentation such as work instructions, traveler sheets, or build records is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of electromechanical system design and integration.
- Proficiency in CAD modeling and creating layouts for multi-domain assemblies.
- Experience with control systems and basic programming for automation (e.g., PLC, microcontrollers).
- Knowledge of sensors, actuators, and signal interfacing for mechatronic applications.
- Full professional fluency in English and Spanish, and comfort working across US, UK, and Spain time zones.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to BOM accuracy and assembly quality.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to coordinate cross-functional schedules.
- Proactive communicator with the ability to flag issues early and drive resolution across teams.
- Adaptable and resourceful when managing changing priorities in a fast-paced hardware development environment.
