Support the design, construction and implementation of automated equipment and tools for new and existing production processes. Select and participate with automation suppliers to help and lead the development of equipment/systems.
This position will also help, provide technical assistance and advice to other members of the automation group.
This position involves frequent interaction with advanced manufacturing engineers, local manufacturing engineers, maintenance, and product engineers.
Design automated equipment to improve multiple manufacturing processes, utilizing knowledge of DFM and DFA to collaborate in the creation of new process technology, improved product designs, and materials while supporting production goals, safety, quality, cost, and delivery. A focus on continuous improvement and automation is required. This position will report directly to a Manufacturing Manager and provide support to all Comfort Controls facilities, contract manufacturers, and suppliers in process improvements.
Ability to lead people and provide guidance to the team for continues improvement and help to keep processes efficiency.
In addition to automation/robotics, should have knowledge in Electronics manufacturing, Testing and Assembly.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and Technical development :
Ø Lead and Supervise automation systems design, including hardware, software (PLC, HMIs, etc.).
Ø Stablish proper programming standards and databases for automated processes.
Ø Validate and approve electrical & mechanical diagrams, instrumentation and technical specifications for each automated system.
Ø Assist engineering personnel in testing and evaluating new technologies, equipment, or techniques.
Ø Responsible for identifying and requesting spare parts required according to the systems.
Ø Maintain a list of materials and costs, as well as register them in the proper area.
Ø Evaluate and approve the equipment installation on the production floor according to layouts drawings.
- Project Management and Strategy :
Ø Lead automation project since initial concept, participate in quoting process and be the accountable to have flawless launch.
Ø Collaborate and participate with multi-disciplinary teams (Maintenance, Production, Quality, IT) to integrate best technologies practices in the industry).
Ø Manage the project budget assigned to automation processes and CAPEX Control.
- Leadership and team management :
Ø Promote a safety culture on all systems execution and design.
Ø Assign proper resources and manage workload of the team to assure projects be completed on time.
Ø Evaluate, lead and mentoring automation engineers fomenting a continues improvement environment. (When apply).
Ø Provide training to sustaining personnel to increase technical proficiency in automation
Ø Help to identify bottle necks in production lines to propose and implement automated solutions to increase efficiency and productivity.
Ø Assist as automated technical support when is needed.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical/Mechatronic, Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omron, etc.)
- Robot/Cobot programming and maintenance (ABB, FANUC, Staubli, etc)
- Automatic Screwdriver systems programming and maintenance (Dessouter, WEBER, Deprag, etc)
- Experience with Automatic dispensing systems (Thermal grease, sealant, etc)
- Experience with Palletized lines with RFID pallets
- + 5 years of experience in a similar position/area.
- Proficient with mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical hand tools
- Knowledge of mainframe and Windows-based PC applications.
- Ability to work with multifunctional teams
- Travel Availability (100%).
- Ability to speak English (70%).
- Experience with robotic and automated cells.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to troubleshoot and program Robotics.
- Ability to troubleshoot and program PLC processors.
- Knowledge of manufacturing assembly automated processes.
- Practical knowledge of the 2D/3D CAD drawing package or solids modeling program.
