We are looking for a Lead UX Technical Designer to contribute to a AAA fighting game project developed in Unreal Engine 5.
This position connects UX, art, design, and engineering, helping transform UX flows, prototypes, visual designs, and interaction concepts into refined in-engine UI experiences. The project is currently transitioning from pre-production into production. UI art direction is partially defined and expected to keep evolving, so the ideal candidate should feel comfortable prototyping, iterating, and shaping implementation patterns as the project grows.
Responsibilities
-
Build UI screens, flows, widgets, animations, and interaction behaviors directly inside Unreal Engine 5
-
Team up with UX Designers to interpret user flows, wireframes, Figma designs, HTML prototypes, and design documentation
-
Cooperate with UI Engineers to shape technically robust, scalable, and reusable UI structures
-
Work with UI Artists to guarantee assets are accurately integrated and polished within the engine
-
Prototype and enhance frontend and in-match UI experiences across various gameplay situations
-
Assist with 2D UI implementation, including potential 3D-anchored 2D-rendered gameplay UI components
-
Contribute to expressive yet purposeful UI motion using UMG, Sequencer, materials, and Blueprint-driven workflows
-
Develop and maintain UI prefabs, widgets, layouts, animation states, and interaction prototypes
-
Verify UI behavior across mobile-first and multi-platform experiences within the game ecosystem
-
Collaborate with sound and VFX teams to align UI animations, celebratory moments, input feedback, and visual effects with the overall game style
-
Assist with production handoff by capturing implementation details, edge cases, interaction rules, and dependencies
-
Support seasonal updates, publishing responsibilities, and live-service UI iteration
Requirements
-
No less than 5 years of hands-on professional experience in UX or UI technical design
-
Minimum of 1 year in a role leading and managing teams
-
Strong background implementing game UI in Unreal Engine
-
Practical experience with UMG and Blueprint-based UI workflows
-
Capability to convert UX flows and visual direction into functional in-engine UI
-
Firm understanding of layout, interaction design, UI motion, animation timing, and responsive behavior
-
Ability to collaborate closely with engineering while remaining at ease with visual and experiential design considerations
-
Applied experience producing prototypes and production-ready UI assets or screens directly in-engine
-
Familiarity with Figma-based design workflows for collaboration and asset handoff
-
Ability to iterate quickly in an evolving creative and technical setting
-
Strong communication abilities and capacity to work across UX, art, engineering, design, production, VFX, and sound teams
-
Solid grasp of multi-platform UI constraints, especially for mobile-centric interaction patterns
-
Confident English communication at B2 level or higher, in both writing and speech
Nice to have
-
Applied experience with UE5 CommonUI for scalable and platform-aware UI development
-
History of contributing to AAA, live-service, fighting, action, multiplayer, or competitive games
-
Familiarity with HTML prototypes or hybrid design-to-engine prototyping workflows
-
Hands-on background creating UI animations using Sequencer and materials
-
Awareness of supporting live updates, publishing overhead, or seasonal content delivery
-
Exposure to evolving design systems or adapting existing design systems to a fresh project
-
Familiarity with approved AI-assisted tools for prototyping, documentation, or production acceleration
