OVERVIEW
The Software Engineering (SE) Guild is a global community of 8,000+ software engineers across Mastercard. The SE Guild exists to develop and share knowledge, standards, practices, and tooling, and to help elevate and maintain the craft of software engineering across the company.
The SE Guild’s work is organized around four pillars:
- Help software engineers be better engineers
- Help software engineering leaders be better leaders
- Solve shared, hard problems through Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
- Build senior-level technical leadership through Principal Communities
ROLE
As a Senior Technical Program Manager, SE Guild, you will be a key execution partner responsible for ensuring SE Guild programs, communications, events, and operational processes are delivered consistently and effectively at scale.
This is not a traditional product delivery TPM role. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role. The right candidate is comfortable doing the administrative work required to keep SE Guild programs moving — publishing updates, coordinating communications, maintaining shared resources, updating distribution lists and community platforms, tracking deliverables, following up with key stakeholders, supporting existing workflows, and improving how work gets done through process optimization and automation whenever possible.
Over time, this role is expected to take on increasing responsibility and leadership within SE Guild initiatives, based on experience, trust, and demonstrated impact.
Success in this role requires enough software engineering exposure to follow technical discussions and ensure SE Guild communications and enablement resources are accurate, relevant, and useful for software engineers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administration & Operations
- Help coordinate logistics for SE Guild meetings and community moments, including distribution list management, scheduling, materials, and operational readiness.
- Help coordinate communications, publishing, and follow-up activities across SE Guild programs, community platforms, and stakeholder groups.
- Help maintain lightweight operating mechanisms, standards, and repeatable processes that improve consistency across SE Guild programs.
- Support execution of SE Guild programs and initiatives by coordinating updates, organizing materials, maintaining shared resources, and helping ensure program assets remain current and usable.
- Contribute to new or evolving SE Guild initiatives and programs as priorities change, applying program management judgment to support execution where needed.
- Identify, track, and communicate risks, dependencies, blockers, and operational status across SE Guild initiatives, escalating when needed to keep work moving and stakeholders aligned.
- Knowledge Platforms & Content Hubs
- Assist in the maintenance of SE Guild knowledge and digital platforms (e.g., SharePoint and related channels) as trusted hubs for learning resources, events, enablement materials, and community information.
- Keep content organized, current, and easy to navigate by coordinating updates and cleanup as needed.
- Process Optimization & Automation (make it easier over time)
- Identify friction and manual effort in SE Guild workflows (publishing, tracking, reporting, roster management, event ops) and implement improvements that reduce churn.
- Automate repeatable tasks where feasible using available tools and existing systems, improving reliability and turnaround time.
ALL ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate has:
- Experience in program management, operations, or complex coordination roles, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams independently and execute with consistency.
- Required exposure to software engineering principles and practices, technical interviews, or engineering enablement, with the ability to understand technical context and engage credibly with senior and Principal engineers.
- Strong written communication and organizational skills, with experience drafting internal communications and maintaining shared content and calendars.
- High attention to detail and comfort operating in administrative and operational domains that support large, distributed communities.
- A collaborative, team-oriented mindset, with the expectation of growing into deeper leadership and ownership of initiatives over time.
Required:
- Fluency in collaboration and productivity tools such as SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated experience using AI and automation or data tooling (e.g., Power Automate, Power Query) to streamline operational and enablement workflows.
Nice to have
- Prior experience as a Software Engineer or in a closely related technical role (helpful context and credibility).
- Experience experimenting with or applying AI tools beyond Copilot (e.g., configuring agents, using AI-assisted workflows, or integrating AI tools into enablement or operational processes).
