We are seeking a Lead Java Developer to become part of our team.
You will architect and maintain microservices-based applications powered by Java, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies, producing clean and efficient code, working shoulder to shoulder with the team, and applying best practices around quality, scalability, and performance. You will join a mature blended team consisting of EPAM and the customer's engineers, dedicated to enhancing Identity Management solutions for the customer's enterprise platform. This is a collaborative and fast-moving environment where clear communication and client engagement matter as much as technical excellence. You will engage directly with customer stakeholders, making refined client-facing skills a vital ingredient for success in this role.
Responsibilities

Plan, develop, and maintain high-performance backend microservices leveraging Java and Spring Boot alongside Spring Security

Deliver and sustain OAuth2, authentication, and authorization flows inside the customer's Identity Management platform

Contribute to front-end development activities when required, helping the team ship complete end-to-end features as a supplementary focus area

Cooperate closely with customer engineers and stakeholders, effectively sharing technical decisions, status updates, and any blockers

Engage in code reviews, encourage best practices, and take part in architectural discussions while operating in a paired programming environment

Connect with identity-related components including token management, user authentication flows, and session handling

Operate within an Agile and Scrum delivery approach, actively contributing to sprint ceremonies and backlog refinement sessions

Ensure that solutions consistently uphold security, scalability, and performance standards across the entire platform
Requirements
-
No fewer than 5 years of hands-on professional experience in software engineering

At least 1 year in a people management or team leadership capacity, guiding a team of 5 or more FTEs

Strong expertise in Java (11/17 or newer) paired with intermediate ReactJS abilities for frontend involvement

Robust practical experience in RESTful API design and development

Applied familiarity with OAuth2, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and related authentication and authorization frameworks

Working grasp of Identity Management principles such as SSO, token-based authentication, JWT, and PKCE flows

Hands-on experience with SQL and/or NoSQL data storage technologies

Assured proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern DevOps practices

Confident English communication at B2 level or higher, both written and spoken
Nice to have

Working familiarity with Go for backend engineering tasks

Applied experience with JavaScript to assist with frontend-related contributions

Familiarity with SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris Commerce) for integrating with e-commerce platforms
