What We Do
The Community Services Department provides exceptional cultural, educational, recreational, and social services to enhance and maintain a high quality of life and attractive physical environment in the Beverly Hills community. The Recreation and Parks Division is responsible for researching, implementing, and evaluating a variety of services and programs for the community with the purpose of enhancing each participant's quality of life. The Division also operates the historic Greystone Mansion and Gardens: The Doheny Estate. Through collaborative effort across multiple City sites, the Recreation and Parks Division serves as a destination for educational, recreational, and cultural endeavors for all ages and provide diverse and innovative recreation and cultural programming and services for the Beverly Hills community.
Who We're Looking For
The City of Beverly Hills is seeking an organized and versatile Recreation Coordinator who is excited about the opportunity to assist in the ongoing growth of programs and operations at the historic Greystone Mansion. In this role, you’ll help coordinate a wide variety of ongoing programs and activities, including rental events, public programs on the grounds, the Inside the Mansion program, the Greystone Theatre, and coordinating with partner organizations. You’ll assist in streamlining procedures and expanding opportunities for use of the Greystone site, bringing ideas forward and working as part of a team on collaborative projects, while always ensuring stewardship of the site remains a priority.
We are looking for someone who has strong written and verbal communication skills, and who works well with a wide range of people, including community members, tourists, City staff, Commissioners, and City Councilmembers. An understanding of working in tourist locations and with a wide range of visitors is a plus. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail are essential, as this role will provide administrative, organizational, and strategic support. You’ll assist with recordkeeping, evaluating programs, and participate in periodic review of printed and public materials. We're looking for a team member who will bring a steady and positive approach to daily problem-solving. You’ll be part of a small team that works together closely, and you will also have the ability to work independently with a deep understanding of policies and procedures.
This position requires walking on stairs and uneven surfaces such as slate, doing small event set-ups such as moving chairs and tables, being mobile for extended periods of time (including standing and walking), and working at a computer. The ideal candidate will have interest and/or prior experience in at least one of the following categories: rental events, historic sites/museums, arts and culture, parks, public gardens. Desired Qualifications:
- Experience coordinating rental events, live performances, and/or cultural public programs
- Prior interest or experience in public gardens, historic sites, museums, nature preserves, theaters, or cultural heritage locations
- Public speaking experience such as teaching or leading tours
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications (e.g. Outlooks, Excel, Teams), microphone setup, and comfortable learning new software and technical systems as needed
- Experience in areas that require accuracy and attention to detail
Work Schedule
This is an onsite position at Greystone Mansion & Gardens: The Doheny Estate, with occasional need to work at other facilities within the City. The work schedule for this position will be
Tuesday to Saturday, and may include evenings.
Salary and Benefits
$64,290.33 - $79,645.65 Annually
This position is represented by the Municipal Employees Association, Technical Services and is covered by the negotiated terms and conditions of that Association's Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Public Administration or a related field. One year of experience in the implementation of recreational programs or activities, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

- The supplemental questionnaire will be used as the Training and Experience Evaluation to be scored by a Subject Matter Expert. In order to receive every consideration in the selection process, you must complete all questions with concise but detailed answers and provide all requested information. The experience you indicate in your responses to the supplemental questions must also be described in detail on the Work History/Experience section of your employment application. Eligibility List
The candidates who successfully pass the selection process will earn placement on an Eligibility List. The Eligibility List may be used for current and future vacancies in the job classification, as defined by the duration of the list at the time the list is established. The Eligibility List established for any recruitment may also be used to fill a lower-level position.

Conviction History
