To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Senior Process Engineering Manager located in Guadalajara.
The Process Engineering Manager – Painting Operations is responsible for leading all engineering activities associated with powder coating, surface preparation, and finishing processes for sheet metal products, racks, cabinets, and enclosures. This role drives manufacturing excellence through process optimization, automation, quality improvement, capacity expansion, and cost reduction initiatives while ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
The position oversees a team of Process Engineers and Technicians supporting high-mix, high-volume manufacturing environments and serves as the primary technical leader for painting operations, collaborating closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Operations teams
What a typical day looks like:

Engineering Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of Process Engineers and Technicians supporting powder coating and finishing operations.
- Establish engineering roadmaps to improve capacity, productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and technical excellence.
- Support workforce development, succession planning, and technical training programs.

Powder Coating Process Excellence
- Own all powder coating and pretreatment processes supporting sheet metal fabrication and assembly operations.
- Optimize critical process parameters including:
o Pretreatment and wash systems
o Surface preparation
o Powder application systems
o Electrostatic coating parameters
o Cure oven performance
o Conveyorized paint systems
o Powder recovery systems -
Establish robust process controls to improve coating consistency, appearance, adhesion, and corrosion resistance.

Lead qualification and implementation of new coating technologies, powders, and application equipment.
Sheet Metal, Rack & Enclosure Manufacturing Support -
Partner with Product Engineering during product design and NPI activities to ensure manufacturability and paint readiness.

Support customer-specific cosmetic, durability, and corrosion protection requirements.

Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) improvements related to paint performance and efficiency.
Operational Excellence -
Improve First Pass Yield (FPY), productivity, throughput, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Lead scrap reduction, rework elimination, and defect prevention initiatives.

Use Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC, and DOE methodologies to improve process capability.

Eliminate production bottlenecks and improve manufacturing flow across fabrication, painting, and assembly operations.
Quality & Customer Satisfaction -
Support customer audits, product qualifications, and corrective action programs.

Ensure compliance with customer specifications, ASTM standards, and internal quality requirements.
Automation & Capital Projects -
Lead CAPEX investments related to painting and finishing operations.

Support implementation of:
o Automated powder coating systems
o Robotic paint applications
o Intelligent conveyor systems
o Vision inspection technologies
o Digital process monitoring solutions -
Develop business cases supporting capacity expansion and operational automation.
Safety & Environmental Compliance -
Ensure compliance with EHS requirements and environmental regulations.

Lead risk assessments and mitigation activities related to powder handling and paint operations.

Support fire protection and hazardous material management programs.

Promote safe manufacturing practices throughout the painting area.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Related Technical Discipline.

Proven Experience in manufacturing engineering experience within sheet metal fabrication, racks, enclosures, or related industries.

Engineering leadership experience.

Strong experience in powder coating, pretreatment systems, and finishing operations.

Proven track record leading continuous improvement and automation initiatives.
