Amazon Logistics is seeking a full-time Workplace Health and Safety Specialist (WHSS) to serve as the designated safety representative for assigned Amazon Logistics Centers (AMZL). The WHSS is responsible for coordinating and implementing all aspects of the Amazon Global Safety Program under the direction of site and regional safety leadership.
The WHSS promotes a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with Amazon safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment. Key responsibilities include delivering training, conducting safety observations, and coaching associates on safe work practices and behaviors.
The WHSS is required to maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly safety metrics and reports for both site leadership and corporate reporting systems. This role supports management in ensuring compliance with Amazon safety policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Additionally, the WHSS conducts risk assessments for job tasks and processes, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and evaluations of new equipment or process changes. The WHSS is also responsible for identifying hazards and recommending appropriate risk mitigation measures, including ergonomic improvements, to reduce workplace injuries and enhance overall operational safety.
Key job responsibilities
- Identify and inform management of compliance issues, risks, and improvement opportunities through the conduct of daily, weekly, and monthly audits
- Facilitate incident investigation process
- Maintain required paperwork to comply with Amazon and regulations
- Enter Incident Information in internal database in a timely manner
- Perform observations & audits
- Train and assist others (Area Managers, team members, etc.) to complete their responsibilities (Audits, Follow Rules, etc.)
- Perform specific training as required by the Manager
- May have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, or other related activities depending on the business unit and location
- Participate in process improvement activities and manage actions to completion
A day in the life
You will fulfill the assigned tasks within this standard work as allocated by the Site WHS Manager, including additional tasks as stretch assignment. You must adhere to the scheduled shift in order to support site safety. Notes: Standard work: essential routine and non-routine tasks for each role, tactical or strategic in nature. Additional tasks not captured in this standard work may arise from business needs.
