Senior Electrical Engineer
FULL-TIME, REMOTE, 5–9 YRS EXP.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead hardware development across complex embedded and power-electronics systems. You will serve as a technical authority on circuit design, PCB architecture, and hardware validation — mentoring junior engineers, driving design decisions, and owning hardware deliverables from concept through production transfer.
Responsibilities
-
Lead end-to-end hardware design of complex analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits including power management architectures, high-speed interfaces, and RF front-ends
-
Own PCB architecture decisions — stackup definition, signal integrity analysis, controlled-impedance routing, EMC mitigation strategies, and DFM/DFT compliance
-
Drive hardware bring-up, root-cause analysis, and debug of prototype and production assemblies; define acceptance criteria for DVT and PVT builds
-
Author, review, and approve hardware design documentation: specifications, schematics, BOMs, assembly drawings, test plans, and failure analysis reports
-
Define hardware/firmware interface contracts; collaborate with firmware and software teams on embedded driver development, register maps, and system-level integration
-
Lead technical engagement with EMS/CM partners, component vendors, and test labs from NPI through mass production ramp
-
Develop DFT strategies and oversee functional test fixture design and ATE implementation
-
Chair design reviews (PDR, CDR, peer reviews); identify cross-functional risks and drive closure of action items
-
Mentor and provide technical guidance to Electrical Engineer I/II team members; review their work and support their professional growth
-
Drive component selection, second-source qualification, and BOM cost-reduction initiatives across the portfolio
-
Contribute to hardware roadmap planning and early-stage feasibility assessments for new programs
Required Qualifications
-
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or closely related field; M.S. a plus
-
5–9 years of hands-on hardware design experience in an industry setting, with demonstrated ownership of full product cycles
-
Expert proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium Designer strongly preferred)
-
Deep experience with bench lab equipment and advanced debug techniques: oscilloscopes, logic/protocol analyzers, VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators
-
Strong command of power electronics: switching regulators (buck, boost, SEPIC, flyback), battery management systems, and multi-rail power sequencing
-
Proven experience with high-speed digital interfaces: USB 3.x, PCIe, MIPI, LVDS, Ethernet
-
Experience leading or co-leading PCB bring-up and NPI cycles with EMS/CM partners
-
Solid understanding of EMC design principles and experience supporting pre-compliance and regulatory testing (FCC, CE, UL)
-
Demonstrated ability to independently resolve complex, ambiguous hardware failures under schedule pressure
-
Track record of mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team technical development
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present technical findings to cross-functional and executive audiences
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience designing hardware for wireless connectivity: Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi 6/6E, cellular (LTE/5G), or satellite
-
Background with flex, rigid-flex, and HDI PCB design; familiarity with via-in-pad, ENIG/ENEPIG, and advanced stackup configurations
-
Hands-on experience with wearable, implantable, or body-worn device hardware including low-power design and biopotential sensing
-
Proficiency in scripting and simulation tools: Python, MATLAB, SPICE (LTspice or equivalent), or SI/PI analysis tools (HyperLynx, Sigrity)
-
Exposure to DO-160, IEC 60601, or other industry-specific hardware compliance standards
-
Experience contributing to or leading hardware architecture reviews at the system level
About the role:
-
Reports to: Hardware Engineering Manager or Director of Engineering—
-
Works closely with: Firmware Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations/Supply Chain, and Program Management
-
Expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy; sets technical direction within their domain and influences broader hardware strategy
