Position Summary
The Treasury & Payment Specialist will be responsible for supporting local payment execution, bank account operations, expense reimbursement review, cash/card control, payment documentation, and treasury data preparation.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Mexican corporate banking platforms, local payment methods such as SPEI, CFDI invoice documentation, and internal approval processes. This role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, accuracy, and a solid understanding of local finance and treasury practices in Mexico.
Key Responsibilities
1. Local Payment Operations
- Process local bank payments, including vendor payments, employee reimbursements, payroll-related payments, tax-related payments, and other daily operating expenses.
- Review payment requests according to the company’s internal approval process and OA workflow.
- Verify supporting documents, including invoices, receipts, contracts, purchase orders, bank details, and internal approvals before payment execution.
- Register and reconcile bank transactions, invoices, payment applications, OA approval records, and payment vouchers.
- Follow up on payment status and report failed payments, rejected transactions, incorrect bank details, or missing documentation in a timely manner.
2. Expense Reimbursement and Cash/Card Management
- Review local expense reimbursement documents, including CFDI invoices, receipts, tickets, approval records, and payment information.
- Manage company petty cash, cash cards, advances, reimbursements, settlement records, and supporting documents.
- Maintain accurate cash/card usage records and ensure every transaction is properly approved, documented, and traceable.
- Organize and archive reimbursement documents, CFDI PDF/XML files, receipts, payment vouchers, and other supporting finance records.
- Support the Finance Manager in improving local reimbursement and cash control procedures.
3. Bank Communication and Account Support
- Communicate with local bank relationship managers, including BBVA, Monex, and other corporate banking partners.
- Support corporate online banking operations, user access, payment authorizations, bank certificates, bank letters, fees, and transaction issues.
- Assist with bank account documentation updates and online banking access management.
- Follow up on banking system issues, payment delays, cross-border payment matters, and other corporate account-related topics.
4. Treasury Planning and Finance Data Support
- Assist the Finance Manager in preparing short-term cash flow and funding requirement plans.
- Maintain payment schedules, bank balance records, payment logs, cash usage reports, and treasury-related reports.
- Support preliminary bank transaction sorting, payment record matching, and monthly treasury data consolidation.
- Coordinate with China headquarters and the local Finance Manager for payment explanations, treasury data, and supporting documentation.
5. Internal Control and Documentation
- Strictly follow company payment approval procedures, finance policies, and treasury control requirements.
- Safeguard bank-related documents, payment records, cash records, and confidential finance information.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding bank accounts, payment authorization, payroll data, vendor information, and other sensitive data.
- Identify and report potential risks, including duplicate payments, abnormal amounts, invalid invoices, inconsistent bank details, incomplete approvals, or missing documents.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- Mexican accounting or finance-related certification is preferred but not mandatory.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in treasury, payment operations, cashier, accounts payable, or finance assistant roles in Mexico.
- Experience in manufacturing, foreign-invested companies, electronics, automotive, home appliance, EMS, or PCBA industries is preferred.
- Experience with vendor payments, employee reimbursements, bank reconciliation, cash management, and corporate online banking operations.
Language Skills
- Native or fluent Spanish.
- Basic English reading and writing skills required for simple email communication with China headquarters.
- Conversational English is a plus.
