About Church Finance Pros
Church Finance Pros is a specialized accounting and fractional CFO firm serving churches and nonprofit organizations across the United States. We handle bookkeeping, month-end close, payroll, and financial reporting for ministries that depend on accurate, trustworthy numbers. Our team is growing, and we're building a quality function to make sure every set of financials that leaves our firm meets the same high standard.
About the Role
The Quality Assurance Lead is the last set of eyes on our clients’ financials before they go out the door. You'll work alongside our client managers to review month-end reports, verify that bookkeeping and core accounting work is complete and accurate, and hold our deliverables to a consistent quality bar across the entire client base.
This is not a data-entry role. It's a review, judgment, and standards role — ideal for an experienced accountant who catches what others miss and enjoys making good work great.
What You'll Do
- Review month-end financial reports prepared by our production team for accuracy, completeness, and presentation quality before delivery to clients.
- Verify that bank reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and account classifications are complete and correct.
- Confirm bookkeeping is current and up to standard across assigned client accounts, flagging gaps or backlogs early.
- Provide clear, constructive review notes to the production team and follow through until issues are resolved.
- Track recurring errors and quality trends, and recommend process improvements, checklists, and training to prevent them.
- Help maintain and refine our month-end close checklist and internal quality standards.
- Escalate significant issues (misstatements, compliance concerns, unusual transactions) to firm leadership promptly.
What We're Looking For
- Strong accounting background. Degree in accounting or finance with meaningful hands-on accounting experience (bookkeeping review, month-end close, or audit experience strongly preferred).
- US GAAP fluency. A strong understanding of US-based accounting fundamentals — accrual vs. cash basis, reconciliations, chart of accounts structure, and financial statement presentation.
- US Pacific Time availability. Ability to work a consistent full-time schedule aligned to PST business hours.
- Sharp attention to detail. You spot the reversed entry, the stale outstanding check, and the miscoded expense that everyone else scrolled past.
- Excellent written English. Review notes and client-facing reports must be clear and professional.
- Reliable remote setup. Stable high-speed internet, a quiet workspace, and dependable power/backup for full-time remote work.
Nice to Have
- Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and cloud payroll platforms such as Gusto.
- Exposure to nonprofit or fund accounting (restricted funds, designated giving, contribution tracking).
- Prior experience at an outsourced accounting firm, BPO accounting team, or public accounting/audit firm serving US clients.
Why Join Us
- Full-time, long-term remote role with a stable and growing US firm.
- Meaningful work — the organizations we serve are churches and nonprofits doing good in their communities.
- A quality-focused seat with real influence over how the firm's processes and standards evolve.
- Competitive compensation, negotiable based on experience.
How to Apply
Send your resume/CV along with a short note (a few sentences is fine) describing your experience reviewing US-based financials and your familiarity with QuickBooks Online. Applications that include a specific example of an error you caught during a review will move to the top of the pile.
