Fives Automatización México is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong technical background, to develop and implement mechanical solutions for industrial automation projects. The position will be responsible for designing machinery and equipment according to customer requirements, technical specifications, quality standards, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems and equipment for industrial automation projects.
- Create and modify 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Perform mechanical calculations and support the selection and sizing of components such as servomotors, linear motion systems, power transmission, pneumatic and hydraulic components.
- Apply mechanical engineering principles and structural calculations to validate designs for functionality, safety, and reliability.
- Develop designs according to customer requirements and MTO (Make-to-Order) and ETO (Engineer-to-Order) projects.
- Apply GD&T, tolerances, material selection, and manufacturing principles to mechanical designs.
- Generate and maintain engineering documentation, BOMs, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Collaborate with Project Management, Controls, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and other engineering teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Provide technical support during assembly, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
- Identify design improvements and participate in problem-solving and root cause analysis.
- Ensure designs comply with company standards, customer specifications, quality requirements, and project schedules.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in industrial automation or machinery.
- Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Experience designing automated machinery and industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, linear motion, power transmission, and servo motor selection.
- Knowledge of mechanical calculations and structural analysis.
- Solid knowledge of GD&T and mechanical manufacturing processes.
- Experience with MTO/ETO environments is preferred.
- Intermediate to Advanced English level.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Availability to travel when required.
