The role will focus on contributing to regional campaign strategy, audience engagement, and narrative development, ensuring that communication efforts across countries are aligned, data-driven, and impactful. The Senior Associate will work closely with country teams, Partnerships, MEL and technical staff, and global communications teams to transform programmatic results into compelling regional campaigns and knowledge products.
She/he will support the development of tailored messages for specific audiences, strengthen engagement with media, counterparts, and donors, and support high-quality communication deliverables aligned with project implementation. Additionally, the role ensures compliance with GGGI’s communication requirements while enhancing visibility through digital and traditional media, contributing to the Global Communication and Knowledge Sharing Strategy. The position will be based in Mexico City, México, or Bogotá, Colombia, where GGGI LAC has its largest offices.
The Regional Communications Senior Associate plays a key role in contributing to strategically positioning GGGI’s brand at the regional level by supporting the design, coordination, and execution of strategic communication campaigns across the region, strengthening the organization’s visibility, positioning, and influence.
The Regional Communications Senior Associate is expected to:
- Support the development and implementation of LAC’s Communication Plan in line with the Global Communication and Knowledge-Sharing Strategy, including audience analysis, key message development, and identifying the most effective channels to reach target groups.
- Coordinate the integration of dissemination plans, campaigns, and partnerships with counterparts and donors to maximize outreach and impact.
- Support implementation of the Global Communications Strategy, Knowledge Sharing, and Social Media Strategy in the LAC region, ensuring compliance with guidelines, developing high-quality materials, and growing regional/global social media networks.
- Support the design and implementation of regional communication campaigns, including multi-country and multi-channel strategies that support policy influence, visibility, and stakeholder engagement.
- Manage the communications systems and platforms for the benefits of the Communications colleagues in the region (social media management platform, media monitoring, event management solution, and email marketing platform).
- Support positioning the organization as a thought leader in the region by crafting strong narratives, key messages, and thematic campaigns aligned with programmatic priorities.
- Promote knowledge sharing and learning visibility by translating technical outputs and results into engaging communication products and campaigns.
- Strengthen relationships with media outlets to enhance GGGI’s positioning in the country, ensuring greater visibility and engagement with key audiences.
- Contribute to the development and timely delivery of high-quality communication materials (draft scripts, copy, and messaging for multimedia products, including infographics, social media postcards, banners, and email campaigns), while also supporting partnership initiatives.
- Introduce innovative approaches to institutional communications and assist the team in addressing communication needs with creative and effective solutions.
- Ensure consistency in key messaging across GGGI platforms, including websites and social media, to maintain a cohesive brand identity.
- Create and manage under guidance innovative regional social media campaigns, draft and publish content, and maintain a creative resources library for the program.
- Provide inputs to guidance and quality assurance for writing web articles, storytelling, press releases, social media posts, blogs, newsletters, multimedia content, and infographics, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging across all communication channels.
- Support the editorial review of official documents, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery.
- Measure the effectiveness of communication initiatives using KPIs, analytics, and feedback; provide regular reports and advice for adjusting strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or related fields. (Master’s preferred)
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience including demonstrated experience in designing and leading communication campaigns, ideally in international development or multilateral settings
- Proven experience in multi-country or regional communication strategies and campaign implementation.
- Strong understanding of digital communications, audience engagement, and content strategy.
- Strong creativity and interest in using innovative technologies to deliver impactful messages.
- Strong communication, event management, media engagement, and diplomatic skills.
- Experience working with MEL frameworks and data-driven communications is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish are required.
- Advanced skills in Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud (especially Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro), and use of AI tools are highly desirable.
- Proven ability to design posts, infographics, videos, and other communication materials.
- Knowledge or experience in green growth and sustainable development is a plus, as well as regional experience.
- Experience living and/or working in multicultural contexts is an advantage.

The Communications Senior Associate is an G7 grade level in GGGI’s Colombia/Mexico national salary scale. The salary range for the position starts at USD 23,239 (Colombia) and USD 32,096 (Mexico) per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. GGGI provides 15% of base salary towards retirement plan/long-term savings, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance that covers dental and vision.
