ROLE DESCRIPTION
What is your role?
As a Senior Database Developer, you will design, develop, optimize, and maintain database objects that support critical business applications. You will work closely with application teams, DBAs, business stakeholders, and global support teams to ensure data-intensive solutions are reliable, scalable, secure, and aligned with business needs.
Major responsibilities and tasks of the position:
Develop, maintain, and optimize stored procedures, functions, triggers, packages, and other database objects across enterprise applications.
Analyze slow-running queries, review execution plans, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning and indexing strategies.
Partner with application developers, DBAs, business users, and third-party support teams to deliver reliable and efficient database solutions.
Support change management processes, production issue resolution, root cause analysis, documentation, code reviews, and database development standards.
REQUIREMENTS
What do you need to have?
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
7+ years of experience in IT as a Database Developer, Application Database Developer, or similar role.
Strong hands-on experience developing and optimizing database objects such as stored procedures, functions, triggers, packages, and complex SQL queries.
Experience working with relational database technologies such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and/or MySQL.
Strong understanding of relational database concepts, performance tuning, indexing strategies, execution plans, and query optimization.
Experience working in Linux and Windows environments.
Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with ability to work across global teams.
Advanced English communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in manufacturing, regulated, or highly controlled environments.
Familiarity with data security, compliance, or governance frameworks such as SOX, NIST, ITAR, PCI, PHI, or HIPAA.
Exposure to cloud database platforms such as AWS RDS or Microsoft Azure.
Experience participating in change management processes, production support, or technical governance boards.
Ability to mentor developers, guide support teams, and influence technical decisions across teams.
Availability to provide off-hours support when required for critical production issues.
Ability to travel occasionally, less than 10%.
