Citi is looking for a Credit Analyst to join its Commercial Banking team in Mexico City, where you will play a central role in evaluating and supporting lending decisions across a diverse portfolio of commercial clients. In this role, you will assess borrower financial performance, analyse credit risk, and partner with credit officers and relationship managers throughout the full lending lifecycle. This position offers meaningful exposure to a broad range of industries and a strong platform for building a long-term career in commercial credit and banking.
- Analyse complex financial statements, including Not-For-Profit entities, spreading new, renewal, and interim statements as well as business and individual tax returns in line with bank guidelines.
- Assess repayment capacity by calculating cash flow, debt service coverage, collateral coverage, and guarantor net worth across simple to complex credit scenarios.
- Deliver concise, well-supported credit analyses drawing on borrower data, industry context, peer benchmarking, and portfolio-level insights.
- Coordinate with credit officers, relationship managers, and credit centre staff to ensure lending decisions are informed, accurate, and completed on time.
- Advise credit officers and relationship managers on loan agreement interpretation, covenant compliance, and ongoing monitoring obligations.
- Review application packages and credit analyses for completeness and accuracy before submission for underwriting, maintaining high standards of quality across the credit process.
- Coach and develop Credit Analyst I team members, sharing technical knowledge and supporting their professional growth.
- Evaluate risk implications of business decisions with attention to regulatory compliance, ethical conduct, and the protection of client and firm interests.
- 2–5 years of experience in credit analysis, commercial banking, corporate banking, underwriting, or credit risk.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse financial statements and apply core credit fundamentals to assess commercial borrower risk and repayment capacity.
- Fluency in English, with clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial analysis tools, applied to credit modelling and analysis workflows.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple credit reviews accurately and to deadline.
- Experience with commercial lending, middle-market banking, SBA, EXIM, or other specialised lending products.
- Familiarity with GAAP and financial reporting standards as they apply to commercial credit assessment.
- Experience using credit spreading platforms or dedicated credit analysis systems.
