WorldStrides is the global leader in educational travel and experiential learning. The company was founded in 1967 to provide middle school travel programs to Washington, D.C. and has grown to provide a wide range of programs for more than half a million students annually to over 100 countries around the world. WorldStrides offers experiential learning programs in educational travel, performing arts, language immersion, career exploration, service-learning, study abroad, and sports. Each of these experiences helps students to see beyond the classroom and to see the world – and themselves – in new ways.
About WorldStrides
WorldStrides is the largest educational travel organization in the United States. It started in 1964, when a social studies teacher named Phil Wendel took his class to Washington, D.C. and saw what one trip did for his students. Today we run travel and experiential learning programs for more than 530,000 students a year, K-12 groups, university study abroad, performing arts ensembles, sports teams, language immersion, and career exploration, with a global team of 1,500+ people.
Behind every one of those programs is a system. Enrollment, payments, itineraries, traveler and safety data, school and university partnerships, and dozens of third-party platforms all have to exchange information correctly, on time, and securely. When a group of forty students boards a flight to another country, everything that got them there moved through an integration. That is the work this team owns.
About the role
We are growing our technology team in Mérida, and Integration Engineering is central to it. This is not a support desk or a ticket queue: you will design and build the integration layer that connects WorldStrides' enterprise systems, working directly with architects, product owners, and engineering teams in the U.S. from design through production support.
Concretely, you'll be working on Azure Integration Services, Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hub, APIM, building REST and SOAP APIs, event-driven and message-based flows, secure authentication patterns, and Python-based automation, all shipped through Azure DevOps CI/CD. You will have real ownership of what you build, and your decisions on API design, resiliency, and observability will affect systems used by schools, families, and travelers around the world.
If you want to do serious integration engineering from Mérida, in English, on a modern Azure stack, with a company whose product is people learning something they'll remember for the rest of their lives, this is the role.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support secure and scalable integrations across enterprise systems, third-party platforms, and internal applications.
- Build and manage REST APIs using Azure API Management / APIM and related API lifecycle practices.
- Develop and support message-based and event-driven integrations using queues, pub/sub patterns, asynchronous processing, and event streaming patterns.
- Work hands-on with Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hub, Azure Web Apps, Azure SQL, and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Develop REST and SOAP APIs using JSON, XML, and common data transformation patterns.
- Implement secure authentication and authorization patterns using OAuth 2.0, JWT, token-based authentication, certificates, mTLS, and related security standards.
- Develop integration solutions, automation scripts, and internal tools using Python and Microsoft Azure services.
- Follow integration best practices for API design, naming standards, error handling, retry logic, resiliency, monitoring, logging, alerting, and deployment.
- Apply DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, automated deployments, and environment management.
- Support release planning, technical dependencies, deployment coordination, and production readiness.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and support production integration environments using tools such as Dynatrace.
- Partner with architects, product owners, business analysts, security teams, engineering teams, and business stakeholders.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, API specifications, integration diagrams, support guides, and runbooks.
- Participate in Agile delivery activities, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, estimation, demos, retrospectives, and production support reviews.
- Ensure integration solutions meet security, audit, compliance, performance, and reliability expectations.
